Today, Celebrate Earth Day
Earth Day is almost here! What’s your top priority action to reduce your water usage? Leaders of the Long Island Clean Water Partnership announced their plans to reverse the decline of Long Island’s water quality here.
The 2015 Long Island Water Quality Improvement Action Plan includes remediation and improvement steps at the federal, state and county levels. This Earth Day, make a difference in the fight for clean water! Together, we can fix the water quality crisis impacting Long Island by encouraging more solidified policies and standards against nitrogen flow from groundwater into our community’s surface waters. Nitrogen pollution is the biggest cause of poor water quality on Long Island, and it’s time to raise advocacy efforts.
Earth Day is the one day a year where communities congregate to display environmental support worldwide. Long Island residents can do the same, especially with an environmental issue of this magnitude to rally behind. Let’s protect our water quality and keep our community flowing with clean water.
